The gathering brought guests together for an afternoon centred on warm hospitality, conversation and awareness, reflecting the spirit of Pinktober.

A collaborative afternoon

The event combined The Tea Room’s signature afternoon tea experience with Alchimie’s fragrance creations, adding a distinctive touch to the setting. Guests were offered a selection of exotic tea and coffee blends alongside an assortment of cakes and pastries, while candle displays arranged by Alchimie added warmth to the room. The collaboration was framed as a way to bring people together through simple, thoughtful experiences while keeping conversations around women’s health and wellbeing in focus.

Stefan Schmid, Complex General Manager of Al Jaddaf Rotana Complex, said the initiative reflected the hotel’s belief in creating experiences that bring people together, describing the partnership with Alchimie as a way to combine warm hospitality with an important message, and expressing hope to continue supporting community initiatives of this kind.

High tea continues until the end of October

Beyond the gathering, The Tea Room will continue to serve its seasonal Pinktober High Tea daily until 31 October 2026, from 12pm to 9pm, priced at AED 150 per person. The offer gives guests the chance to enjoy a specially curated afternoon tea for the remainder of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Eligible new JVC residents get a complimentary coffee from the espresso menu on their first visit, then 15% off the espresso menu on their second and third visits.

How the offer works

To claim the free coffee, residents need to show a valid tenancy contract that confirms their JVC address, along with a valid Emirates ID for verification. Once the complimentary coffee has been redeemed, the café issues a Form Room loyalty card.

The loyalty card gives 15% off the espresso menu on the next two visits. Both of those visits must take place within 15 days of the first visit, and the card has to be shown each time. The release does not give an end date for the offer, so it is worth checking with the café before you go.

About Form Room

Form Room opened in January 2026 in Binghatti Jasmine, in Al Barsha South 4. The café takes its look from a school lunch table and builds its menu around hearty sandwiches, alongside specialty coffee and all-day dining. Pets are welcome in both the indoor and outdoor areas, subject to available seating and the venue’s rules. We covered the café and its menu in our earlier story.

What to Order in Dubai, According to 1.2 Million Reviews

Sam Allcock

DXB Local ranked 65 Dubai dishes from written reviews of the city's top 1,000 restaurants. French toast leads the mains, hummus the appetizers and tiramisu the desserts.

What should you order in Dubai? DXB Local, a Dubai site that turns online reviews into short Pros, Cons and Tips for local businesses, has tried to answer with data. It ranked 65 dishes (40 mains, 12 appetizers and 13 desserts) by counting what diners wrote about them. This guide sets out the results, where diners praise each dish most, and how far the numbers can be trusted. The figures are DXB Local's own analysis, not ours.

Last checked 23 October 2026. Rankings and venue details are as supplied by DXB Local; check menus and prices before you book.

How the ranking was made

DXB Local started with listings for 10,309 restaurants in Dubai. It narrowed them to the 2,255 with checked customer highlights, then chose the top 1,000 by star rating, the number of people who rated them and the quality of their listings. Of more than 1.2 million written reviews, 477,898 mentioned food and formed the set it examined closely.

Only clear opinions about a specific dish counted. Praise counted for a dish, and criticism of the same dish was subtracted, which gives each dish a net score. A review that praised a whole meal without naming a dish was left out. In all, DXB Local counted 17,966 dish-specific mentions across the 65 dishes: 15,725 favourable and 2,241 critical.

DXB Local says it used AI to find possible dish votes, but each one had to point to words the diner actually wrote, and it checked the original review. You can read the full method and see the restaurant-by-restaurant evidence.

The top mains

French toast (net score 682)

Mixed grill (569)

Lamb chops (547)

Butter chicken (533)

Mutton biryani (358)

The top appetizers

Hummus (857)

Falafel (763)

Lentil soup (290)

Truffle fries (266)

Fattoush (219)

The top desserts

Tiramisu (947)

Kunafa (488)

Matilda Cake (318)

Churros (306)

Milk Cake (192)

The full list of all 65 dishes is on DXB Local's ranking page.

Where diners praise them most

DXB Local also lists the restaurants where each dish earned the most positive reviews, with positive and negative review counts in brackets. Treat small counts with care: a venue with 16 positive reviews and none negative is a smaller sample than one with 139.

French toast: Parlour Boutique (40 positive, 2 negative) and Culinary Boutique Jumeirah (41 positive, 4 negative)

Mixed grill: Chalet Grill Plus (16, 0) and Narrah Lebanese Restaurant (16, 1)

Lamb chops: Hashmi Barbeque Restaurant (62, 5) and Pili Pili BBQ House, Global Village (26, 0)

Hummus: Qasmieh Al-Fawal, Al Warqa (47, 4) and Narrah Lebanese Restaurant (38, 0)

Falafel: Qasmieh Al-Fawal, Al Warqa (139, 5) and Falafel Frayha, Al Barsha (93, 5)

Lentil soup: YABA Modern Iraqi (19, 4) and Kabab Erbil Iraqi Restaurant, Jumeirah (10, 0)

Tiramisu: La Fabbrica Italiana, Wasl 51 (178, 9) and PUBLIC (127, 18)

Kunafa: Feras Aldiyafa Sweets, Al Barsha (128, 23) and Zam Zam Mandi, Al Karama (25, 3)

Matilda Cake: Parker's, where DXB Local says it is the signature dish across the branches

Every restaurant has a page on DXB Local with its Pros, Cons and Tips.

Why French toast?

A review-based ranking measures what diners wrote, not what restaurants sell, and it can favour dishes that many people order and review. Dubai's brunch culture produces a lot of breakfast reviews, so we asked DXB Local founder Bob Chandra why French toast came first.

He wrote to us: "Dubai's famous brunch culture had something to do with it although it's not just that." He pointed out that only two brunch dishes, Avocado Toast (number 9) and Shakshuka (number 7), made the top 10 mains. The rest of the top 10 came mainly from dinner menus. Eggs Benedict and Acai Bowl drew many votes but missed the top 10 because enough of their reviews were critical.

For French toast, he credits kitchens such as Don't Be Chai and Culinary Boutique Jumeirah for getting it "crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside". In his words: "French toast had 807 favorable mentions against 125 critical, a net score of 682."

How to use this

Use the ranking as a starting point for what to try, not as a verdict. It reflects the written opinions of diners at 1,000 restaurants, analysed with DXB Local's own method, which we have not repeated. Dishes with fewer reviews can rank high on small numbers, and a venue's menu and prices can change.

The name comes from 1,064°C, the approximate temperature at which gold melts, a nod to the nearby Gold Souk. The hotel pitches it as a place to stop by after a day in the souks or to gather for an after-work catch-up, with a rooftop pool and a relaxed approach to dining.

What to eat

The menu leans towards sharing food for long afternoons. There are loaded chicken wings in smoky barbecue, peri-peri or spicy honey glaze, crispy calamari with tartar sauce, mini sliders with barbecue beef, cilantro chicken or crispy chicken, and nachos with guacamole, cheese sauce, jalapeños and salsa.

For a longer sit, there are grilled garlic prawns with Beirut hummus and a beef steak sandwich with melted Emmental and caramelised onions, plus Indian platters. Vegetarian choices include paneer tikka, samosas, pakoras, vegetable quesadillas and a falafel wrap with tahini and Arabic pickles. Desserts are chocolate fondant with vanilla ice cream, warm apple pie and cheesecake with melted chocolate.

What to drink

The soft drinks include Ten64 Iced Tea, a hibiscus blend with lemon, a Watermelon Cooler with mint and lemon, and Tropical Glacier, which mixes passion fruit, mango, coconut and pineapple. The release does not give prices.

The afternoon starts with the opening of SYNCHRONICITY, an exhibition by artist, writer and educator Charlie Koolhaas, and the evening continues with ROUTES & ROOTS, an eight-course Chinese dinner by Five Spice.

The exhibition

SYNCHRONICITY grows out of more than two decades of photography and looks at the unexpected relationships that appear between things that seem unconnected. Its title draws on Carl Jung’s idea of meaningful coincidence. Across photography, sculpture and painting, Koolhaas explores those encounters: large-format documentary photographs from her archive in China, where she lived for ten years, urban landscapes turned into sculptural pieces, and paintings that isolate chance meetings in everyday visual noise. The opening runs from 3pm to 6pm at XVA Gallery, and the exhibition stays on view until 12 November 2026.

The dinner

ROUTES & ROOTS is part of the XVA x Five Spice Supper Club series and takes place for one evening only. Guests share plates in the courtyard of XVA Café while the menu explores how regional ingredients took root to define the Chinese home table. Elements of it draw on flavours Koolhaas met during her time in China, reinterpreted by Xini and Starry, the founders of Five Spice, whose approach brings people together over food, storytelling and cultural heritage.

Knot Bakehouse has the first slot. Its takeover began on 15 October at Roofline by DIFC and runs through the month, before the next restaurant steps in.

What Knot Bakehouse is serving

Founded in Dubai and Emirati-owned, Knot Bakehouse brings together artisanal baking and modern café culture, with a focus on quality, craftsmanship and community. Its contemporary café and bakery offering comes alongside a selection of limited-edition creations made exclusively for the month. For its time on the rooftop, visitors can order hot and iced coffees, matcha drinks and a limited selection of pastries.

The seasonal twist is a pair of limited-edition drinks created for the pop-up: a Pecan Nut Latte and a Pecan Nut Matcha, both finished with an orange glitter foam for a playful touch. Visitors can also pick up talabat pro vouchers with their purchase.

What comes next

Each month a new restaurant takes over the talabat pop-up, and talabat has not yet said who follows Knot Bakehouse. The release simply asks people to stay tuned. Called Flavors of India, it costs AED 189 per person and is served with views of the Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Fountain. The restaurant says the aim is to capture the colour, warmth and culinary traditions of the Festival of Lights in a meal for family and friends.

What is on the menu

The menu travels across India, bringing together street food, kebabs, regional curries and festive desserts. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian diners each get their own selection, so a mixed group can share the same table without compromise.

On the vegetarian side, the Purple Potato Chaat combines crispy purple potato, cassava and kale with a tangy raisin chutney. It sits alongside the Bikaneri Paneer Tikka and the rich Paneer Qasr-e-Pukhtan.

Meat eaters can look to the Murgh Bikaneri Tikka and the Gosht Pasanda Kebab. The Zafrani Murgh Korma is a comforting chicken dish simmered in a gravy of onion, cashew and yoghurt.

Dessert brings Badam Halwa Tartlets served with kulfi ice cream, plus Mawa Chandrika, a flaky pastry filled with khoya and nuts and soaked in saffron sugar syrup.

The setting

Mausam presents the set menu as a leisurely occasion for families and friends, in the heart of Downtown Dubai. The restaurant describes the mix as traditional Indian hospitality alongside contemporary cooking, with the fountain and the tower as the backdrop to the meal.

The set menu is offered on one date only, 8 November, so it is worth reserving ahead. The pair are billed as a cooling counterpoint to the kitchen’s daring, spice-led cooking, and both are available now.

The two new lassis

The Very Berry Lassi keeps the traditional yoghurt base and blends in fresh, tart berries, which gives it a bright, fruity profile. It is served in a tall conical glass, finished with berries on top.

Rohini is known for reworking Indian classics with a bold, contemporary edge, and has built its name on unexpected pairings and vibrant presentation. The restaurant says the lassis follow the same idea. They are designed to sit comfortably alongside its signature dishes, either as a palate-cooling accompaniment between spicy courses or as a stand-alone treat for anyone who just wants something refreshing. Pairing a drink with the food is part of the point, and the two lassis give diners a clear choice between fruity and creamy.

Where they fit

The restaurant says the lassis follow the same idea. They are meant to sit alongside its signature dishes, as a drink to calm the palate between spicy courses, or as a stand-alone treat.

Earlier this month, its restaurant Greenhouse Social hosted an Early Christmas Brunch for families, and the hotel is now inviting guests to book its festive offers early.

What happened at the brunch

The restaurant was dressed for Christmas, with a tree, decorations and a generous spread of the festive dishes people look forward to every year. Live stations and a laden buffet kept the room busy.

Children had plenty to do. The Grinch was hidden around the restaurant, and young guests took part in a competition called “How Many Grinches Can You Find?”. They also wrote wishes to Santa on special postcards and dropped them into a mailbox beside the Christmas tree, ready for the North Pole. Guests kept an eye out for a surprise appearance from Santa himself.

The hotel described the afternoon as a head start on the season, with good food, laughter and time together. It follows the ‘Creekmas’ preview we reported in September, which you can read in our Creekmas story.

The Dubliner’s, Jules and Warehouse each run a daily happy hour, so guests can pick a mood rather than just a time.

Three happy hours, three moods

The Dubliner’s, the hotel’s Irish pub, offers one of the longer happy hours in the city. It runs daily from 12pm to 8pm, with draught beers, house beverages and wines from AED 35.

Jules is the lively option. Its happy hour runs every day from 5pm to 8pm, with house beverages and wines from AED 30 and a pint of beer from AED 35. If you stay on, the bar fills with live music later in the evening, as we describe in our piece on Jules Bar’s Kamayan Fiesta.

Warehouse is the high-energy social space. Its happy hour runs daily from 1pm to 8pm, pairing bold bites with crafted cocktails, wines and beers, and it suits groups and casual get-togethers.

More at The Dubliner’s

The pub has other regular draws. Quiz Nights run every Tuesday from 8pm to 11pm, with prizes to win, and teachers get up to 40% off food and beverages. A Guinness-inspired game-day menu is available throughout the Premier League season.

On Sundays, the Sunday Roast Carvery runs from 1pm to 5pm, with beef, crackling specials, Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables and gravy. The food and soft drinks package costs AED 135, while the food with bottled beers and house drinks package costs AED 235, consumable for up to three hours within the window.

Now it is leaning into that identity with a daily Kamayan Fiesta, bold Mexican flavours and live music every night.

The Kamayan Fiesta

The Kamayan Fiesta is a communal feast inspired by the traditional boodle fight. Friends and family gather around a banana-leaf spread and eat by hand, working through well-loved Filipino dishes such as Sisig Pampanga, Lechon Kawali and Daing na Bangus.

Each feast includes Sinigang soup, mixed atchara, rice and a pitcher of iced tea. Guests choose five dishes for AED 269 or three dishes for AED 169, and the feast is available daily.

Live bands and bottle deals

From 8:30pm onwards the bar fills with sound. A live Filipino band and a resident DJ keep the room moving every night, with performances by Skills Band and Supreme Band. The venue says the mix is meant to feel like home, with sing-alongs, dancing and plenty of group energy.

For bigger tables there is Bottle & Bites Delight, served daily from 5pm to 1am. Every bottle of spirits comes with three complimentary appetisers, which makes it an easy choice for a birthday or a team night out. Earlier in the evening, Jules also runs a daily happy hour, which we cover in our story on Le Méridien Dubai’s happy hours.

Le Méridien Dubai has been busy this season, with a new culinary lead and a Halloween programme at Jules and its sister venues. The Umm Suqeim 1 venue was the brand’s first branch outside Romania, and it opened because fans who had followed the concept online asked owner Alin Ciobanu, known to customers as Bossman, to bring it to Dubai.

From Bucharest to Jumeirah

The brand runs five branches in Bucharest, so Dubai was a big step. Teaser advertising sent from Romania introduced the name to the city before the doors opened. Ciobanu also sees Dubai as a stepping stone, because the United States is the market he wants to reach next, and he chose a city with an international crowd and a role as a global hub.

The location came with a story of its own. While visiting the premises with his brother, Ciobanu spotted a sign left behind by the previous tenant, a fine dining restaurant. It read: “If you are looking for a sign, this is it.” He kept it, and it still hangs in the restaurant as a reminder of where the Dubai story began.

After five years, he says, what matters most is seeing guests come back and bring their friends. “Every recipe has my personal touch, and that will always be at the heart of Bossman’s,” he said.

What is on the plate

The burgers use premium Wagyu and Angus cuts, and Ciobanu marinates the meat himself every day. The buns, the sauces and the fried chicken all follow his own recipes, which gives the oversized portions a house character rather than just size.

The restaurant describes itself as a hidden gem for anyone after generous servings, and its late hours suit a post-beach or after-midnight burger run.
