Thirteen-year-old Dubai runner Amèlie Sophia Davies is preparing to take on an extraordinary challenge this September: running more than 200 kilometres in one month to raise funds and awareness for The Sparkle Foundation, supporting children and families in Malawi.
A passionate young athlete and member of Dubai’s running community, Amèlie began running three years ago and has since developed from an enthusiastic young runner into a regular competitor on the Dubai running circuit, achieving numerous podium finishes along the way.
But for Amèlie, running has also become an opportunity to make a difference.
Last year, she completed a 100 km fundraising challenge, and this September she is doubling the distance with her biggest charity challenge yet – 200+ km throughout the month.
“I know how lucky I am to have the opportunities I have, and I want to use something I love – running –
to help children who deserve the same opportunities. Last year I ran 100 km, so this year I wanted to
challenge myself to go even further.”

Throughout the challenge, Amèlie will balance her running with school at Royal Grammar School Guildford Dubai and her regular athletics training.
She will be supported in her training by Ultimate Athletics, her running coach Coach Peter, and members of both The Kenyan running community and New Auto Activity, who have played an important part in her development as a young athlete.
Her campaign aims not only to raise vital funds for The Sparkle Foundation, but also to demonstrate how young people can use sport to create positive change.
Amèlie is now hoping that members of the UAE community – young and old – will get behind her September
challenge through sponsorship, donations and by sharing her story.
Every kilometre will represent another step towards helping The Sparkle Foundation continue its work supporting communities in Malawi.
