Looking for a dinner spot with a view of the Burj Khalifa? Le Guilan has opened at DAMAC Maison Distinction in Downtown Dubai, serving modern Persian cooking inspired by the cuisine of Gilan in northern Iran.
The restaurant offers both indoor dining rooms and an outdoor terrace. Inside, the artwork and interiors draw on early 20th-century Persian manor houses. Outside, a botanical terrace looks out over the Burj Khalifa and South Ridge Park.
What to Eat at Le Guilan
Your meal begins with freshly baked bread served with fermented black garlic butter, a welcome that arrives before you’ve ordered much at all.
The menu then moves into richer territory, with a Pistachio Soup, Fesenjaan (a classic of Persian cooking) and Short Ribs paired with Chocolate Jus, one of the more unexpected combinations on offer.

Chef Houman builds his dishes on the flavours of Gilan, then applies French and European techniques in the kitchen. The result is food that tastes distinctly Persian but is presented in a more contemporary way.
For a first visit, Fesenjaan and the Short Ribs show two very different sides of the menu, and the complimentary bread and black garlic butter is a good way to begin.
