Last updated: 16 October 2026. Nothing below is an official announcement yet. Next check: January 2027, and again on the evening before the expected start.
Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin on Monday 8 February 2027 in the UAE, according to the UAE Astronomy Centre’s projection reported by The National (updated 6 October 2026). It is expected to last 29 or 30 days.
Expected dates
| Event | Expected date | Day | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ramadan begins | 8 February 2027 | Monday | Expected, awaiting moon sighting |
| Last day of Ramadan, if 29 days | 8 March 2027 | Monday | Expected |
| Eid Al Fitr, first day | 9 or 10 March 2027 | Tuesday or Wednesday | Expected, depends on the Shawwal crescent |
| Eid holiday, 29-day Ramadan | 9 to 11 March 2027 | Tuesday to Thursday | Expected |
| Eid holiday, 30-day Ramadan | 9 to 12 March 2027 | Tuesday to Friday | Expected |
Weekdays are our own calculation from the dates. The UAE government public holidays page says Eid Al Fitr is the first three days of Shawwal and that day 30 of Ramadan is also a holiday when the month lasts 30 days.
How the dates become official
The UAE moon-sighting committee observes the crescent on the 29th of each month. If the Shawwal crescent is not sighted on the evening of the 29th day of Ramadan, the month extends to 30 days, as The National explains. Until the sighting, treat every date here as expected.
What usually changes in Ramadan
- Private sector hours: in 2026, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) announced on 12 February 2026 a cut of two working hours a day for private sector employees, with flexible or remote work allowed within the reduced hours. Whether the same applies in 2027 will be announced closer to the month.
- Daytime dining: we have not included restaurant daytime rules because we have not confirmed them from an official source. We will add them when the authorities publish them.
