CHI-KA Dubai will host an artist talk with Todo Takanao, a Japanese ceramicist and architectural designer, on Saturday, 21 February, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The session gives guests direct access to the thinking behind Takanao’s practice.
Takanao works at the point where traditional ceramic techniques meet contemporary design. His pieces span functional objects, sculptural form, and spatial thinking. His work pays close attention to material, proportion, and how objects relate to the spaces around them, with roots in both Japanese aesthetics and architectural discipline.
During the talk, Takanao will present his portfolio, discuss how his practice has evolved, and explain the role architecture plays in his ceramic work. He will focus on the conversation between structure and organic form that shapes much of what he makes.
The talk is open to guests who want to hear from Takanao and put questions to him in person. CHI-KA provides the backdrop for an event centred on craft, materiality, and cultural dialogue.
