Heston Blumenthal’s Dinner by Heston Blumenthal in London will close in January 2027, ending a 16-year run at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park. The restaurant opened in 2011 and became one of London’s better-known dining destinations, built around a menu that reinterprets historic British recipes drawn from centuries-old cookbooks and culinary traditions. Its signature dishes include the meat fruit, a chicken liver parfait shaped to resemble a mandarin, alongside other heritage-inspired plates.
Reports from the UK suggest the closure is tied to the end of the restaurant’s tenancy at the hotel. Speaking to The Times, Blumenthal addressed the decision directly.
“There are some huge feelings there; sadness. It’s bittersweet, but it has run its natural course,” he said. “We are effectively tenants in a building and our tenancy is finished.”
Blumenthal will keep The Fat Duck in Bray open. His flagship restaurant has been running since 1995.
Following the announcement, Atlantis The Royal confirmed that the London closure will not affect the Dubai location. “Dinner by Heston Blumenthal at Atlantis The Royal continues to operate as normal and remains open to both residents and visitors,” the resort said in a statement.
“The closure of the London venue does not impact operations at Atlantis The Royal, and there are no plans to close the restaurant here. We look forward to welcoming guests to Dinner by Heston Blumenthal at Atlantis The Royal to experience the restaurant’s celebrated historic British cuisine.”
The Dubai restaurant opened as part of Atlantis The Royal’s restaurant line-up on Palm Jumeirah, bringing Blumenthal’s historic British concept to the region. It continues to operate as normal.
