Tandoori Chicken Wings and Lobster Pani Puri lead the return of Rohini’s best-loved dishes, as the JLT restaurant refreshes its enu with the flavours that built its following
Dubai’s JLT dining scene has a new reason to book a table. Rohini, the award winning Indian cuisine restaurant at Mövenpick Hotel Apartments JLT, has reworked its menu for the new season, and the result feels less like a refresh and more like a love letter to India’s streets, palaces and home kitchens.
The opening act says it all: Lobster Pani Puri, crisp shells cracked open tableside and filled with spiced, tangy-sweet water and lobster, turning a childhood street snack into pure theatre. The Tandoori Chicken Wings, already something of a Rohini calling card, come back sharper, finished with fresh lime and curry leaf salt.
The tandoor keeps the drama going. Raan Biryani Parcels arrive wrapped in banana leaf, slow-cooked lamb raan and saffron rice sealed inside for guests to unwrap at the table. The Galouti Kebab, Lucknow’s legendary melt-in-the-mouth mutton kebab, sits beside a vegetarian counterpart, the Rajma Ki Galouti, built from kidney beans and spice. For something lighter, the Ajwani Mahi Tikka brings boneless fish marinated in yoghurt and carom seeds to the grill.
Big-format sharing gets its due too, with the Slow Braised Goat Shoulder Aloo Gosht built for the centre of the table, alongside coastal favourites like the Nariyal Malai Mahi Curry and the slow-cooked Kashmiri Rogan Josh.
Dessert leans playful: Rohini’s Treat pairs rasmalai with rose and white chocolate clotted cream, while the Gulab Jamun Surprise folds the classic sweet into mascarpone, coffee and cocoa for something that’s more texture trip than traditional finish.
On the drinks side, the Maharaja Old Fashioned (Indian whisky, jaggery, house spiced bitters) and the Cinnamon Sutra (Indian whisky, crème de mûre, dry vermouth, cinnamon smoke) carry the same spirit of reinvention from plate to glass.
Nothing here plays it safe or sticks to one region. It’s India, reworked one dish at a time, and it’s exactly the kind of menu that gives regulars and first-timers alike a fresh excuse to come back.
