During Ramadan, UAE residents used talabat’s platform to order food for people in their communities who needed it.
The ‘Share an Iftar’ campaign ran throughout the month, and by the time Eid arrived, users had contributed enough to deliver 5.5 million meals to those most in need.
talabat built the giving process into its existing app, so users could donate a meal in the same way they would place a standard food order.
The app also features a ‘Give Back’ option, which lets customers donate to a vetted charity partner before completing their checkout as normal. All funds raised went towards iftar meals for people who could not afford them.
In the UAE, the campaign produced the following results:
- More than 13,000 donors took part
- Over 43,000 contributions were made
- Approximately Dhs1,974,585 (€468,000) was raised
- A total of 5.55 million meals were shared
The money raised went to Emirates Red Crescent, World Food Programme and Beit Al Khair, among others, directing both meals and financial support to families during Ramadan.
Across the wider region, donors raised Dhs7,172,640 (€1.7 million) in total and unlocked over 24 million meals, with more than 77,000 donors making in excess of 218,000 contributions throughout the month.
Simonida Subotic, Managing Director and Vice President at talabat UAE, said: “Ramadan has a unique way of bringing people together, and this year we saw that on a much larger scale.
“It’s a powerful reminder that even the smallest acts of kindness can build into something far greater.
“Our role is simply to make giving easy and accessible, and the impact across the UAE speaks to the incredible generosity of our community.”
