1Rebel, the fitness studio at ICD Brookfield Place in DIFC, is teaming up with AKIN Barber for two free grooming pop ups during Movember. The collaboration is part of ICD Brookfield Place’s Movember initiative, which supports Al Jalila Foundation and encourages men to grow a moustache as a symbol of solidarity, self expression and men’s mental health.
The release describes AKIN Barber as Dubai born. For the two events it brings its barbers into 1Rebel, so the grooming happens inside the gym rather than in the shop.
Moustache styling on 3 November
The first pop up is on Tuesday 3 November, from 9am to 1pm, when AKIN Barber takes over 1Rebel for a moustache styling session. Guests can drop in and have the barbers help them settle on a Movember look, from groomed handlebars to understated classics, and then wear it through the month.
The shave off on 1 December
AKIN Barber returns to 1Rebel on Tuesday 1 December, again from 9am to 1pm, for a shave off to close the month long campaign and help participants say goodbye to their Movember moustaches.
Both sessions are free of charge and there is no booking: it is walk in only, on a first come, first served basis. The release says the initiative supports Al Jalila Foundation but does not say how donations are collected or whether there is a fundraising target.
About ICD Brookfield Place
ICD Brookfield Place is on Al Mustaqbal Street in DIFC. It is a dining, wellness and business destination centred on a public space called The Summer Garden, and it says it hosts more than 100 events a year across arts, music, fashion and sustainability.
