Varak, which has boutiques in Business Bay and Arjan, is making mithai for Diwali, which falls this Sunday, 8 November. Diwali is the only time of year the brand makes the traditional Indian sweets, and every box is made fresh to order.
Familiar sweets with a twist
This year’s box pairs familiar mithai with a twist. The selection includes Coffee Cashew Katli, Chocolate Mohanthal and a Yuzu Hazelnut Mysore Pak and is made fresh to order.
The packaging tells the other half of the story. Each box is printed with a hand-drawn design inspired by India’s textiles, from Ikat and Patola weaving to Kalamkari painting, and it is made to stay on the shelf long after the sweets are gone.

Hampers and corporate orders
Hampers run from The Envelope to a hamper that pairs a mithai box with handcrafted brass glasses. Corporate and bulk orders are open ahead of 8 November, and the collection can be ordered online through Varak’s Diwali edit.

Both boutiques stock the collection: Churchill Tower on Marasi Drive in Business Bay, and Vincitore Benessere in Arjan. They open from 8am to 11.30pm Monday to Saturday, and from 9am to 11.30pm on Sunday.
Varak was founded by Preet and Diva Vasudev, and this Diwali comes seven years after their first bakes at home.
