Bombay Borough in DIFC serves a Diwali tasting menu from 6 to 11 November at AED 295++

Bombay Borough, the all-day Indian bar and eatery in DIFC’s Gate Village, is serving a Diwali Tasting Menu from Friday 6 to Wednesday 11 November. It costs AED 295++ per person, with separate vegetarian and non-vegetarian menus served across the restaurant’s two Art Deco-inspired floors.

Snacks, chaat and grills

The meal opens with a platter of Diwali snacks based on the treats families swap at home: a besan ladoo spiced with gochugaru and served with goat cheese, a Parmesan para with roasted fennel yoghurt, a chakli cigar with fermented chilli aioli, and a chiwda tart with curry leaf, peanut, green mango and tamarind gel.

Next comes the restaurant’s Froyo Papdi Chaat, with tamarind froyo and sweet curd. Vegetarians then get 1000 Layered Potatoes with curry leaf aioli, while the non-vegetarian menu has Alleppey Fish, Chilean sea bass in a raw mango and coconut glaze. From the grill, it is mango and cottage cheese skewers and a smoked meatless kebab, or Rajputana Murg Soola and a Shikampuri mutton kebab.

Mains and mithai

Vegetarian mains are a saag burrata with sourdough makai roti and an Awadhi vegetable biryani. The meat menu has a Kashmiri chicken korma with sourdough khameeri and a slow-braised mutton dum biryani.

Dessert is the mithai course: a plum ghewar with Arabic qishta cream, a Motichur Ladoo Softy made with home-churned soft serve, and a kaju katli bar with dark chocolate soil and kunafa.

“Diwali is about coming together over food, and this menu is our way of honouring the flavours we grew up with, the ladoos, the chakli, the ghewar, while giving them a new story,” said Chef Akshay of Bombay Borough.

The price is before the 7% authority fee and 5% VAT. Tell your server about any allergies or dietary needs.
