What The Food returns to Alserkal Avenue for its fifth edition on Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November, with the theme Khubz wa Milh (bread and salt), celebrating gathering around a meal and putting homegrown brands and makers in the spotlight. Among them will be HalaPop, which describes itself as the UAE’s first locally made prebiotic soda, with free drinks, a game and prizes all weekend.
At the stand

- Free chilled drinks at the mocktail cart in all five flavours: Pomegranate Hibiscus, Strawberry Vanilla, Cherry Cola, Ginger Lemon and Tangerine.
- The Make It Pop challenge: stop the timer at exactly 10.00 seconds to win, with lights, sound and a live leaderboard running all weekend.
- Prizes including totes personalised on the spot, pouches and HalaPop goodies.
- The founders, Walid Antabli and Karim Jalloul, at the stand across the weekend.
What is in the can

HalaPop was created to turn soda from a guilty pleasure into a better choice. Each can has 15 percent real fruit juice and 6g of prebiotic fibre, at 29 calories, with no added sugar, no preservatives and no artificial colours, flavours or sweeteners. It is made in the UAE.
The HalaPop stand is beside the central table at Alserkal Avenue in Al Quoz, open from 10am to 10pm on both days. The release does not give ticket or entry details for the festival.
