Syrian-Levantine Restaurant Naranj Cafe Opens at DoubleTree by Hilton Dubai Al Jadaf

Naranj Cafe, a Syrian-Levantine restaurant that the release describes as already popular across Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, is now open in Dubai at DoubleTree by Hilton Dubai Al Jadaf. Khamas Hospitality, a hospitality group based in the UAE, has brought the brand to the city.

The name comes from the bitter orange tree and its fragrant blossoms. The restaurant says its cooking is rooted in Syrian home cooking: family recipes, simple ingredients and traditional methods, rather than recipes adapted to modern techniques. The local team at each new outlet trains for months so the dishes taste the same from one country to the next.

The space

The restaurant covers 385 square metres on the ground floor of the hotel, close to the metro station, and seats 170 guests: 100 indoors and 70 outside. Inside are arched details, patterned screens, warm wood, earthy tones and statement lighting, with a dedicated family dining area, a separate bar serving alcoholic drinks, and a live kitchen and grill where bread comes straight from the oven. The terrace is set up for dining, drinks and shisha.

What is on the menu

The menu covers mezze, charcoal-grilled meats, slow-cooked dishes and desserts. Dishes named in the release include Kebbeh Labanieh, kibbeh simmered in a laban sauce; Borghol Be Dfin, red bulgur cooked with olive oil and lamb shank; vine leaves with lamb chops; Fatteh Mousakhan, with toasted bread, chicken, sumac, onions and tahini; Kebab Khashkhash and Kebab Eggplant from the charcoal grill; and the Naranj Mix Grill Daffat for sharing.

Desserts include Arabic ice cream with ghazal al banat, baklava cheesecake, dates cake and kunafa cannoli rolls, plus a Syrian debes and tahini ice cream made in house. There is a kids’ menu, and drinks run from coffee and signature cocktails to milkshakes such as the Cheesecake Shake, Baklava Shake and Barazek Shake.

“Naranj is a very unique culinary experience, and bringing it to Dubai is a milestone we are truly proud of,” said Pratik Kachroo, Executive Director of Khamas Hospitality. “With Naranj, we hope to share a little piece of culture and hospitality with Dubai, creating a place where people come together over good food, meaningful conversations and lasting memories.”

Lunch is served from 12.30pm to 5pm and dinner from 6.30pm to 10pm, with mezze bites and the bar running from 10pm to 3am. The restaurant puts the cost for two at AED 300.
